Resveratrol is a new anti-oxidant that is making the news as it is known to be in red wine and chocolate.
While Resveratrol may be news to us, the herb Polygonum cuspidatum (a rich source of Resveratrol) has a history of being used in Traditional Chinese medicine as a blood tonic to assist with the maintenance of general health and well-being. The root extracts of Polygonum cuspidatum have been credited to many phytotherapeutic successes in Japanese and Chinese folk medicine.
Scientific research is now exploring the potential health benefits of Resveratrol, with the most striking findings being the antioxidant effects of the extract. Consumption of antioxidants has many alleged health benefits, including the support of cardiovascular health.
Red wine remains one of the richest dietary sources of resveratrol, but the levels of resveratrol in modern wines can vary between one to three milligrams per litre. While Resveratrol is also shown to be in blueberries, peanuts, chocolate and many fruit and vegetables, the levels present are not comparable to the levels that have been studied scientifically and shown to give most benefit.
Thompsonâs Ultra Strength Resveratrol provides 125mg of Resveratrol per tablet (the equivalent of 60-125 litres of red wine) and combines with synergistic nutrients vitamin C and citrus bioflavonoids to provide easy to take anti-oxidant support for general wellbeing.
