Common name originates from the Anglo-Saxon, meaning "ground glutton," a reference to the speed at which the plant spreads.
Habitat : A garden weed.
Features : Erect, angular, branched stem as high as nine inches. Leaves sessile, oblong ; short, toothed lobes. Flowers small. yellow, with slender, black-tipped involucral scales ; florets tubular. Salty taste.

Action : Diuretic, hepatic.
Relief of biliary pains in 2 ounce doses of the 1 ounce to 1 pint infusion. A stronger infusion acts as a purgative and emetic.
